Look, it's very cute, you trying to teach the experienced boylesque performer about his craft...actually, it's not cute, it's dickish.

Some of the most impressive burlesque performances I've seen have involved almost no removal of clothing. Some of the most boring have been naked/nearly naked people flopping about on stage.

And frankly, everyone in a burlesque audience knows what a naked woman/man looks like. They're not there to see naked people, they're there to see how someone can turn the removal of clothing into an artform, or a narrative.

What's the difference between burlesque/boylesque and straight-up stripping?

As someone who is also involved in the burlesque scene, do a performance about you.

Burlesque is self-expression. What makes you feel sexiest? Blues music or bubblegum pop? (Assuming you're female) do you love the classic corset-and-suspenders aesthetic, or would you rather rock a spiked bra and knee-high boots?

The most interesting burlesque acts I've seen have always been about the performer. A novice performing something that is uniquely them is far more interesting than an experienced performer recreating Dita von Teese.

If you have fun with the routine and do whatever makes you feel sexy, the energy will come across to your audience.

Speak for yourself.

At the majority of burlesque gigs I've attended, the majority of the audience is made up of other burlesque performers.
