That seems like an important detail to leave out. I recall reading that in one interview Yanez stated that Castile was reaching by his right leg, right thigh between the console. The location of the wallet would have been a key detail to determine what Castile was reaching for, and what Yanez could have seen.

I understand what you are saying except the "doesn't stop when hes told to" part. Remember, he wasn't told to stop moving. He was told not to reach for "it" and in the context of the conversation, "it" was a gun. Castile states he is not reaching for it. His girlfriend says he is not reaching for it.

I wish the officer had told him to stop moving because that is the action he wanted.

I personally think its nerves.

Castile had been pulled over many times before. His girlfriend says "again?" as he is being pulled over. He has THC in his system. He has a child in the car. He is in possession of a weapon. And at the time news of other incidents were causing alarm in the community.

I think in Castile's mind, he was reaching for his wallet to present his ID which he had not done at that point. He thought he was being honest by alerting the officer that he had a firearm. In his mind, he is nervous but trying to cooperate, he is not trying to be a threat and assumes that has been conveyed to the officer. He has no idea how his admission of the gun was received by the officer until it was too late.
