Why did you choose the name Civcraft.

Seeing as you're still developing the game, is there any chance you will change the name to prevent confusion?

Is the amount you have invested in the name worth more than a huge lawsuit over trademark infringement?

The fact that you had to clarify that this game is different than Civcraft proves there is an issue. Civcraft is open world and has a lot of the same elements that you want to present in your game. Not to mention it's the same fucking name and you're using it second.

I get where you're coming from on this, but you're incredibly likely to piss off one of the most toxic communities on the internet if you continue using the name.

I personally don't really care, but this type of game interests people in Civcraft immensely. You lose a huge group of players who would have most likely supported this endeavor (for instance people love Medieval Engineers (http://store.steampowered.com/app/333950/)) It is a boneheaded move to keep using a name that opens you up to legal action, pisses off a group of players that would probably support you otherwise, and makes you look like a washed up developer trying to copy a drunken swede's voxel game.

I'll even help you come up with a better name and get you a better URL that will index better. Fo' free.

Ttk2 (server owner) never trademarked the name. That doesn't mean all that much, especially with the history of prior use and the community behind it though. It's never been something that has been monetized, but it wouldn't be too hard to press the case here.

Nothing like pissed off communists to ruin someone's morning

It is prior use and infringement.

At the very least it is enough for it to be contested and go through a couple levels of petitions.
