The majority of unaffiliated voters are progressives.

As somebody who is an unaffiliated voter, I would love a source on this.

Your premise seems to rely on the AWB and events following its expiration. What do you think about all of the data before the ban? You used to be able to get machine guns shipped to your door without a background check. Even the AR-15 was available to the public as early as 1964. The availability of these sorts of weapons do not correlate with the recent uptick in mass shootings. If the increase of mass shootings does not correlate with the availability of "assault weapons" or machine guns, what is the core problem we're dealing with and how do we solve it?

Edit: TL;DR Why only look at 14-24 years of data when we have had publicly available machine guns and "assault weapons" for well over a century?

I allow that my evidence is largely anecdotal, as is the existence of an unaffiliated voter who is not progressive.

If you care to counter...

I haven't made any claims one way or the other. Since you provided no proof, there's nothing to counter. You've made this claim a couple times in the thread and I was curious if you had any sources to back it up.

Polling... specific policy issues... public is well to the left...

Ok, but do the polls specify the leanings of unaffiliated voters either nation wide or, more importantly, Utah? If not, this seems irrelevant. Either way, I'd be interested in looking over the polling data you're referencing. Where can I find it?
