Hi Ben, I just wanted to thank you for doing this.
I am the daughter (grand daughter really) of eastern European Jewish family , first generation american. I am married to a wonderful human who is a "mutt" but most of the bloodline is german and scottish. Our older kiddo (not mine genetically) is fascinated by the history like me. Our younger one is only 4 but they both love learning AS I AM LEARNING TOO!
interesting point - my first menorah was a gift from my husband's late grandmother. She was Mormon in younger years, she grew up with a Jewish best friend. She also gave me her latke recipe. When she passed (prior to us having our daughter/getting married), the family decided to give me the star of David necklace. It's interesting how they have had more influence than my own family but I also understand my parents reasoning, kind of haha.
My family emigrated to the US much later, in the 70s - It took a long time for me to get answers but the way they made it was essentially hiding their heritage and... I don't know much of the details off hand but I know they were on a very long train ride at one point? Anyway, I find myself wishing I had a connection to my roots often, especially as my extended family (grandma's sisters descendants) raised their kids and grandkids as Jewish. My mom denounced religion.. I remember my grandma reading the Bible heavily in old age. I never knew until after my grandma passed, that her sisters had their "numbers" on them. I think mh grandma had tattooed over or laser removal possibly? She passed away in 2006 (maybe off by a year). She raised me.
I guess I just wanted to share this and again thank you.

Levo has been so widely.. hated lol from all of the random forum discussions I've seen in the past decade. I feel better off it and with selenium. But .. I'm not confident that is a good idea long term.
You can push for further testing , if you haven't had all the labs done- it's sadly common how normal ranges don't mean shit .
This sucks haha

I get nervous about changing providers in general, can you give any tips on how to handle that?

Wow, this sounds like what I witnessed my mom go through. It started around 1996. Right after she had a 107 degree fever with sepsis and was hospitalized. . The best guess is that she basically fried her brain (for lack of better words). She is still on Keppra. Holy crap I have never seen anyone else with a similar story. I was young so my timing may be skewed but i want to say it was like .. 3 or 4 months between the hospitalization and the sudden seizures at home. No history at all in my family.

Not op but i didn't find out until a decade after hypothyroid diagnosis for me to find out I have tpo-ab antibodies, which is associated with hashimotos ... which is autoimmune.. I knew for years i have psoriasis but nothing came up on labwork. I haven't been tested in about a year but my tpoaB has been getting worse as I get older, especially since pregnancy (2018) AND covid.
Interestingly, my psoriasis symptoms now are under control as long as I avoid trigger foods and eat "gut healing" foods (i make my own chicken bone broth and eat raw garlic lol) when I have warning flares .... but the antibodies and the symptoms of hypothyroidism are getting worse. Tsh t3 t4 free t etc being in "normal range", but not necessarily normal "for me".
This doesn't answer your question at all and it's mostly word vomit i guess lol but I'm interested in an answer *besides check out the book.
