I do believe so, but I am not willing to say 100%. I am trying to find said DVD's and will watch that episode + commentary and get back to you.

I do wonder what was Joss's motivation for keeping Anya and Xander apart. I know he has never shied away from the big hurt, and that doesn't bother me. I just have to ask: Why did Xander and Anya have to remain exes, and why did her death have to be so horrible? I understand redemption, but even Spike got to come back again.
