Hello! I heard a rumor that a section of Oregon/Washington moves clockwise northeast slowly, but ongoing - then every 14 months some areas will stop and even move backwards. Is this true? If yes, what's the most recent research being done on it? Has something like this been observed elsewhere? What could it mean!

Often times when I'm out and about I'll see a geologic feature and want to know about it. Are there any websites/guide books/apps that would be helpful to keep on hand so I could try determine how a formation/feature came to be? I respect your expertise and I realize there is no shortcut to your advanced degrees!
