Strategic plans (actually, the planning process is more important than having a written plan) help you figure out (according to your vision, mission, and values) what your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are (SWOT analysis). From there, you determine the key issues that you need to address as an organization, which helps you prioritize your next steps. It's a continual-improvement process. Anyway, happy to help you out. I'm VERY new at coding, but I am formally trained in strategic planning.
