So, is changing that lack of competition a key to preventing net neutrality from becoming a perennial issue?

Sen. Wyden,

Are you aware of any of your congressional colleagues who are backing the FCC's current plan in any focused kind of way?

Well, that's comparing apples and oranges isn't it? Neutrality would be comparing all three video services using, for example, the 10 Gbps service. Without neutrality, Comcast (or any other ISP), could prioritize Netflix traffic instead of Joe's Cat Video Channel because Netflix pays them to be prioritized. JCVC is then at a competition deficit simply because he can't afford to pay to have his traffic prioritized.

That's what net neutrality means and it's a very different point than consumers paying for different speeds of internet.

Piracy is illegal activity. I think if the FCC were to create regulations that allowed ISP providers to throttle the broadband of users (they already allow this!) and providers of illegal activity, no one would bat an eye. If you want to torrent, that's the game you play, right? That's not the same as saying we should create an imbalance in the market of bandwidth that favors those companies with greater capital.

You've yet to address the issue of the free market and why it's a bad thing for the Internet.
