This AMA is fake and will probably be taken down soon but people don't just leave China because the government intentionally makes that difficult. If you start doing things that indicate you may be leaving - e.g. selling a vehicle - the government will get suspicious.

Yeah, most likely. There is a very well-documented pro-China propaganda campaign going into effect targeting Americans especially. There's a Youtuber named Laowhy86 who covers China as someone who used to live there for a long time and he does a great job explaining these sorts of things.

I would definitely recommend checking him out if you are interested in learning more. He has brought on some fantastic guests to discuss the Uyghur genocide and more.
