While it sounds like a cool idea in concept I really don't think a cold climate would ever really work. First off it would be a lot more dangerous to the contestants, survival would become a much larger part of everything and you might not have as much of a 'story' as you do now. You would also lose the sex appeal of muscular men and beautiful women in skimpy clothing, not a huge reason people watch but I'm sure it contributes. Finally challenges would probably be a lot more difficult in colder climate, if it were an area with snow or where everyone was solely focused on staying warm it would take a lot of fun out of the game and the competition.
