Can you elaborate on your tl;dr of the book? Perhaps an example of how I could incorporate each one of those points into my life.

When I was following a vegan diet, it was harder to to put on weight. I started eating animal products again and put on 10lbs. Not complaining, I hope to gain more weight. Just saying that a plant based diet is usually less conducive to being overweight. (In my and some others experience.) It's a restrictive diet. Sure, remove meat and dairy products, most regular junk food, things high in saturated fat and protein, and you'll probably lose some weight. Obviously not everything plankt based is low in fat or healthy, and I'm not saying that fat is inherently bad. Plant based also likely includes a lot more fiber, vegetables, whole foods, things that are considered healthy.

Edit - and to add on to that, OP is following a "whole foods plant based no oil" diet. That's incredibly restrictive. I would never follow a diet like that, life wouldn't be worth living to me. No oil, refined or processed food, or animal products. I would look like a skeleton if I followed this diet.

I love tater tots, mmmm. But I can only eat so many of them, plus they're usually really high in sodium. That makes them taste great, but not so healthy for the body.
