Selection bias; it's a killer.

People can be addicted to food and eating just like being addicted to alcohol or drugs. Doesn't make them weak willed terrible people, it makes them someone with a medical condition. This attitude that we sort of collectively harbor, that fat people are dumb, that alcoholics just need to 'be strong' is not doing a whole lot to help others who genuinely need help.
