I feel like us cinema workers need a subreddit or something where we just share all our fucked up stories.

I work in a Cinema chain down under, and for us its a bit of security and ensuring people aren't being loud or on their phone and etc. We'd rather stop the bad behaviour before we get complaints because we don't get the complaint until after. when we can't do anything about stopping the person doing it.

I'm not OP but i do work at the theatres and this was one of my questions when I had just started, and I was told that at one stage because we only get charged by the producers of the film based on the amount of tickets we sell that some theatres were essentially faking tickets, so putting through 2 tickets for every 1 sold so that they wouldn't have to pay as much to the producers, eventually the producers found out and now we have to have physical evidence (our ticket stubs have a little item code on the bottom half) that can be used to see how it was put through in our system, of course they never actually request to count the ticket stubs.
