maybe because dyson was joking the whole time people thought it was a joke. But then when nailed down he did not budge. Then the audience realized that he is actually serious about that remark

How was life on the ships when not beeing in battle or beeing attacked? I have seen a lot of pictures, but i have a hard time "seeing" something.

it is one thing to call someone a "evil white man" in a joke. The other thing is to double down and explain why said dude is a "evil white man" while beeing serious.

i dont disagree with you. In my eyes beeing called an "evil white man" in a joke is nothing to be upset/worried about. One can joke about everything. But if you are indeed serious despite joking...then it becomes appaling
