  1. How would you respond to people that point out the problems with people abusing mephedrone as a argument against drug legalisation or decriminalisation. I know the issue was massively overblown in the paper, however I certainly knew lots of people who abused it quite heavily and I know it wasn't something that happened just where I lived. As the abuse basically died when it was made illegal. Following on from this do you think it's hurt any chances of decriminalisation in the country?

  2. Several sources on the Internet will either argue that you need to wait 1 month or 3 months between using MDMA, and I've never really seen any convincing scientific information one way or the other. What would you recommend, and again, do you see this posing a problem if the drug was to ever be legalised (I can see quite a few people not wanting to wait very long)

Labor wants to be "tough on drugs and crime" and make drugs like cannabis a more serious offense

Is this what they're saying for the election this year, and if so you got anywhere I can read about it?

I think it definitely shows that we will never live in a world where we can just pop to the store to buy drugs, at least not for a very long time. If you look at silkroad users though, which are normally quite educated drug users, despite them having access to basically any drug they want and there being a fair amount of users in the UK, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of problems with them (or wed definitely hear about it in the daily mail) so perhaps more than anything the mephedrone problem shown that we actually need a real drug education in the UK.

It is talked about a lot though and I'd love to hear professor Nutts opinion on the matter

Yeah, they expected it an hour later I think

It definitely hasn't gone away, but it's certainly decreased massively. As people have said in the thread, it was quite a massive problem with students, and it certainly stopped quite dramatically a few weeks after it was made illegal. And unfortunately lots of people are looking at that and thinking that whilst it doesn't stop usage, banning drugs seems to be the best way to minimise the risk to the general population (not that I agree at all)

Also I find it really interesting that you said you only waited 2 weeks, as many people would say that doing it with less than a months break is quite harmful, and you should regularly take 3 month breaks. Are there any long term known health risks with doing it monthly let's say?

Thanks for answering my questions.
