Oh, oh! I get to contribute!

For a brief period, I worked as an autopsy tech. Once day, I was assisting in an autopsy on a 16 year old who had shot himself while his parents weren’t home. Family insisted he was trained in gun safety and properly well-adjusted, despite recently breaking up with his girlfriend. Suicide just wasn’t a possibility in their view.

A bit incredulous at the family’s claim, my pathologist and myself did the pre-autopsy evidence collection routine and then settled in to start the evisceration. We make the Y-incision, open the abdominal cavity and notice that there is something long and cylindrical protruding against the wall of the colon where the rectum curves up and into the sigmoid colon. We instantly stop the autopsy and get the morgue photographer in to document what we had found and our removal of the same.

We open the colon to discover an intact glass Codd-neck Bottle completely inside this kid’s rectum. Everything suddenly became clear: he got it trapped and instead biting the bullet and telling his parents what had happened, he decided to take his life.

That kind of tragi-comic stuff happened way more than I care to recall.

Seeing my secret published on the website was one of the most liberating experiences of my life. After the initial panic of, "Oh my god, it actually got published and someone is going to see it and know it was mine!" wore off, all the emotional weight and self-loathing just left me. It was like feeling that millions of people had each taken a minuscule piece of it and left me with next to nothing to carry, so i was able to finally move on with my life.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, I just wanted to thank Frank for his work and also people like you, hannahalexia, who both share yourself with strangers and carry their burdens and troubles as well.

I can see it now in a month:

Hey Reddit, I'm the guy who lost his job with Google because I violated the NDA and now they're suing me! AMAA!

And a few days later:

Hey Reddit, I'm the guy who got sued by Google for violating the NDA and I lost my case because I couldn't stop posting shit online for them to use against me in court! AMAA!
