Look through these comments on this post and you'll see that still happening. The unwashed masses that showed up on this site within the past few years just see it as just another part of "The Internet".

I guarantee you that Scientology's OSA has had private investigators collect every last tidbit of information about her, her family, and everyone she associates with. They probably have photographers tailing her. These people are absolutely nuts and their attitude toward people who speak the truth about the cult is scary. Look up Scientology's "fair game" policy
