Hi Dr. Karunakara, thanks for doing this AMA.

Much progress has been made in the water and sanitation sector in recent decades, but climate change threatens to reverse some of that progress. When we think of the kind of urgent emergencies and disasters that MSF works with, the gradual effects of climate change don't immediately come to mind. However, these effects may very well be disastrous for many developing countries, especially Pacific island countries where I work. Does MSF have a strategy for building resilience of communities vulnerable to climate change, especially with regards to water and sanitation? Thank you.

Is there a Federated States of Micronesia team, or does each of the states get their own international team?

One time I was flying from Hawaii to Detroit via a connection at LAX. Hawaii to LAX flight was with United and LAX to Detroit was with Delta.

My flight from Hawaii to LAX gets delayed several hours because of mechanical problems which causes me to miss the connecting flight. When I arrive at LAX, I am told by both United and Delta that, according to their computers, I boarded the LAX to Detroit flight even though 1. I am standing in front of them with multiple forms of ID and 2. the delta flight to Detroit was gone before my United flight even arrived at LAX.

Delta said the error was United's fault and United said it was Delta's fault. Both sides were severely rude to me, accused me of being an imposter at one point and said there was nothing that could be done. Eventually a United employee walked me a different gate (one belonging to another airline), said "wait here, I'll be right back" and did not return after I waited 30 minutes.

I eventually went back to the Delta desk and was given more rude treatment before I finally lost my cool (had been composed and polite this whole time) and refused to leave their desk until they did something. The woman makes one phone call and I'm put on a flight home.

The whole ordeal once I landed in LAX took 3.5 hours. If I didn't get put on that flight home at the last minute, I certainly would have sued.

Oh, I see how that isn't clear. Detroit was home so eventually made it where I was trying to go.
