If the best insult someone can come up with against me is, "this guy, he only dates women significantly younger than himself!", well I'd be okay with that.

Edit: I'm 28 but the relevant XKCD creepiness formula says I can date as low as 21. So I date a lot of undergrads, because girls my age are all divorced single mothers already.

This theory doesn't really hold water at all. Look at the rates of different types of crime. You see a huge drop in everything from 1990 to 2000 and then it starts leveling off.

First, it's not like that many people were ever getting murdered for their CDs and DVDs. So your theory doesn't really explain the drop in murder rates other than maybe potential murderers being preoccupied with pirated media.

Second, and much more important, the rise of piracy didn't really start happening until the very late 1990s (Napster didn't come on the scene until 1999; Bittorrent didn't exist until 2001), and it's doubtful people in the socioeconomic class most likely to commit these types of crime -- i.e., the poor -- were broadband first-adopters and had the simple bandwidth needed to pirate enough media to keep them "off the streets".

In fact, by the year 2000, less than half the country even had internet, and broadband took MUCH longer to reach a high adoption rate -- it didn't reach 51% until 2007.

Well DS9 itself was a Cardassian station so it makes sense that the set would be pretty depressing.
