Its a shame how America treated it's Vietnam veterans. A huge mistake, them and the Korean vets went through some intense shit. Im sorry the anger towards your war was aimed at those who were given the job to carry it out. Thank you for your service.

Its funny, Johnson, McNamara, Kissinger and many others took very little heat after the war. In the movie "Fog of War" McNamara explains how they had known that the war was a loss earlier on. That no matter how much they trained the SVA or bombed the northern supply lines and cities itd make no difference. The Vietcong and communists would win. And not because they were communist. But that they were Vietnamese fighting for what they themselves perceived as Vietnamese independence. They couldn't even bomb major NVA cities because they were afraid the Chinese might step in like they had in the Korean war. Like I said, the entire shit show that was Johnson's administration. And the American soldiers returning home were the sacrificial lamb. They wanted to be like they're parents before them, the WW2 guys, men who served their country when called upon. Instead, they were perceived as the war machine for American interests during the cold war.

It is, based entirely upon McNamara's life and career. Its and excellent interview/documentary. Especially if you want an inside look into the early half of the cold war. McNamara's "life lessons" create an excellent insight into how he has an effect on the cuban missile ww2, the Cuban missile crisis, the Vietnam war and many other things.
