Man, even if this is some cringey attempt at creative writing and humor, yeesh. From the first page (and by far not the worst thing written here):

...The atmosphere had become quiet and uncomfortable, so I decided to lighten things upwith an anecdote. I told them about the time that my freshman-year roommate at CSU went to the director of housing and told him that he wanted me to be kicked out of our room because hethought I was watching him sleep and trying to see him naked when he got dressed in themorning. Fido and Cookie apparently failed to realize how funny my story was. Instead, they looked at the ground uncomfortably.

Fido and Cookie were the "random" names he decides to call two women in his class because of course?

This is a pretty common union busting tactic, not just in hospitals and medical fields. Employers (often under advisement from legal teams that specialize in fighting unions) will argue to the NLRB that some roles should be included in the bargaining unit if it's more likely that they will vote no, while trying to argue others who would likely vote for a union shouldn't qualify for the union vote.

GIVE HER THE RABBIT, LENNY

I also enjoyed the Malcolm X tea reference in that episode.

I'm not quite sure why you're being downvoted by this question. Cédric Mauduit was 41 when he was killed at Bataclan. Maybe to those outside of rock, metal, etc music, a somewhat middle aged civil servant may seem an unlikely attendee for a concert at Bataclan, but in mine or your experience, not so much. Does seem odd she focused on Mauduit's "old" age, whereas she described Seamus Heaney's passing much too young at 74.

I grew up around a fair bit of Desi kids in the states, and it wasn't uncommon for them to spend a year or more going to school in India or wherever and stay with relatives. I never heard of them being abandoned like OP was, like they had some sort of clue why they were going overseas in the first place.
