Try a psychologist first. They're less expensive than psychiatrists, and the psychologist can help you navigate the rest.

Don't expect a miracle on your first visit, but talking with someone who will listen and respect your privacy should start to help.

You should make it a priority to get an appointment with someone soon. Like, get to work on it today, even if all you do is Google psychologists in your area. Don't wait until you feel like a psych ER is your only option. The process of getting admitted is usually a nightmare, and if you go on or prior to a weekend, you won't get much help beyond getting stabilized. Psych units are no joke.
