The money is very good, but the hours are long, you can't be "emotionally sensitive", and it takes years to get into this particular niche. I spend most of my time off pavement trekking through the bush, and I deal with what could be considered some relatively large loads. For example, the excavator I'm going to pick up tonight weighs 120,000lb without attachments, my whole rig loaded will be 120' long and ~250,000lb Because of such factors it's not a gig for everyone, and many who try, don't succeed.

Glorified truck driver. My truck has a Winch mounted behind the cab rated for 60,000lb of line pull, I use it to pull oilfield skid equipment onto my trailer, be it offices or warehouses or a generator. The lowbed is a special haul trailer used for hauling machines like excavators or bulldozers.

Pipeliners are the biggest sector that do that because the work moves around so much, and they spend months on the same project. Drilling, ratholing etc usually carries around its own camp facility, the other supporting manpower usually isn't on site long enough to justify packing their own house around.

Oilfield lowbed and Winch operator checking in, can confirm, probably going to gross $150,000 or more this year
