digitalset's comments on carbon pricing in an emissions trading scheme or cap and trade model (i.e. greenhouse gas fee) are absolutely deplorable. It's been implemented in a range of places, and there is not a single valid point in the criticism!
People like you always think that adding regulations is all right as long as you make exceptions for the poor. Classic hallmark of a bunch of high schoolers or college undergrads who think you can just wave a wand at economic reality and make things happen. In short, no. You will probably never understand this, so my attempt in a few short sentences is void. If you can't understand economics and government regulation, go back and take Econ 101 and 102.
Yes, because I can't possibly understand how making businesses pay for their negative externalities (GHG in this case) will cause certain behaviour to become more expensive (in line with the real costs of that behaviour), which in turn changes their behaviour due to the added expense.
