Too bad you're late... Actually, I'm sure there are more specific things you could ask...

But this is your area of expertise. I am sorry, go ahead. steps aside

Hello Doug, Thanks for doing the AmA! I picked up photography only about a year ago and started into film. Due to cost Ive had to switch to digital for now; and I am not finding it as fun so I ask, How do I overlook the medium? What do you look for in your photos, what keeps you inspired as I really don't want to lose interest in this hobby, its the only one I've found that's stuck around for as long as it has. What can I do with my camera to challenge myself a bit further for example?

I wasnt as trigger happy with film as I am with digital ill be honest - My Nikon 7200 doesn't capture the magic, and I think some ( a fair bit) of that is down to the carefree attitude in which I use it. I think the dicipline needs to be carried over. All the shots I took with film I agree I did take a lot more time with and I think that's a large part of why I am happier with those shots, they do feel more precious because of the 'one chance to capture the moment' approach, and I did used to Frame a shot, and not bother taking it a lot as my heart wasnt in it.

I will come back to film, I've been lucky to use and abuse many digital cameras and while they're technically incredible pieces of kit, there is a magic to film that cannot be found in digital.

Thanks for your reply!
