Former TWC Tier 3 myself. I see you worked in Ohio (Mid or NEO?). I don't know about you but 80-90% of my calls were phone issues. I actually REALLY looked forward to doing actual PC troubleshooting and not helping Mildred figure out where to plug a phone in.

From what I understand there is a limit of 1oz for local customers. Is that tracked, or could someone go to the next store and buy 1oz as well? If it is tracked, is there some sort of system all the places use or is it done at the store level?

Most of my weird calls came from my time at Charter doing the same work (I worked for TWC Tier 3 as well).

Some of my more memorable ones:

  • Guy calling about his cup holder being broken on his computer after getting Charter internet (CD Rom Drive)
  • Guy calling from Tennessee about why the internet was down when there were multiple tornado's in his area and he didn't have power (had a very large UPS with the modem and router connected to it)
  • Having to get my sup involved with a guy who was hosting CP on his Charter provided personal webspace
  • When one of the particularly nasty botnet/viruses hit (this was some time in 2000-2002) and we actually had on the message when you called in that the entire US was having internet problems.
  • Field tech called to tell us a propane truck was in a wreck in North Carolina. While it didn't explode it did burn about 20 foot through the ground and severed one of our main trunks in the area. Internet was out/spotty for weeks
  • Guy called in wondering if it was bad his modem was smoking, later went on to tell me that he had spilled beer in the vent holes on the top. Told him to unplug it before he burned his house down.

There are many more, but this is just a few calls/memories from that place.
