Not quite. It's gentle that's for sure, but it's still a social insect. Quick tip: if a bumblebee waves their leg at you, that's the signal to back off or she'll sting!

Another pro tip: learn your male bumbles. It's a great party trick to pick them up and amaze children and adults. You can play it nice and explain it, or play around with them a bit and pretend that it's stinging you to death.

It sure brings you back to earth when one stings you. Collected over 300 bumbles for a project, got lazy on the last one and the thing stung me through the net ><

They're the only ones that can sting. Just be really damn sure before you try it out!

Yeah you can pick them up on your finger without an issue. They'll sit there and waggle their leg at you, but that's about it. I just wouldn't recommend it for someone nervous about bees, cos they can and will sting if you annoy them.
