Actually 150 days work is what you need to have to apply for permitted union work, but that is barely accounted for. You need to pass the department test to prove you can be effective in the entery position.

Above they're talking about needing days worked on union shows to get in the union. In Vancouver it recently (about a year ago) went from 30 to 90 permitted days. No one year cut off like LA, no lotteries. $800 entry fee, a bit off each check and quarterly fees. But it is all worth it.

I managed to get in on one show, but that was several years ago. With the 90 days and better tracking of who's working on shows these days it's getting harder. If your keen it's doable. That why these rules exist, we want keen professionals.

As per the people shocked at why we want in these unions. I can go work non-union in Vancouver, for less pay, less safety, unpaid overtime. There are exceptions of course. But generally that's my experience.

On the production side. They're spending six figures daily; Getting held up because someone isn't in sync with the big picture is costly.
