Any career advice for non-neuro-typical types? For example, people with depression, ADHD, or other difficult, manageable, and life-altering traits.

Hello. Can you suggest any tools to help with transitions from one activity or task to another?

Transitions seem to be a sticking point for my son and I, but once past that hump, I have some tools to help keep the ball rolling. I would appreciate your advice or direction for some pragmatic, in-the-moment tools or habit-forming processes to help start a task or to transition from one to another. I’m asking for myself and my son...and maybe my daughter when she gets older.

I appreciate your time and am looking forward to the answers in this thread!

Thanks for the reply! I’ve found success with timers for my son, especially before bed. I must admit, though, that I have been less than thorough stopping screen time an hour before bed. Room for improvement there! I should look at using timers for myself, too. I use lists extensively, which helps me transition from one task to another. Perhaps, as I borrow his timer, I can apply the list idea to his routine in a child-friendly medium, like a chore chart or the time-honored star chart.

Thank you very much for the pointers. We’ll get through this together, he and I!

Where or how do you find a financial planner to help plan the whole of my budget? Every time I’ve investigated, I usually find financial planners who really just want to plan how I’ll invest into stocks or similar products. I’ve yet to find a reliable or certified planner who is willing to help plan the rest of the budget—how much debt to pay off, whether to buy a new car, sell the house or rent it out, how best to plan for our kids’ college...that kind of thing. I don’t just want to plan stocks. I’d just put $ into an index fund and move on with my life if I wanted to play the market.
