Most "inspirational stories" I've seen on reddit are about "I abandoned X to become a full-time game developer AMA!"

Which usually ends up at "I spent five years and my life savings making a game that sold 4 copies, AMA."

So they're not technically trying to kill people, but they are maliciously harming them in a way that is often fatal?

The whole Xenu thing is absolutely top secret for Scientologists. You have to be in it for years, and huge gobs of money, before you're "ready to learn the truth." They know it's batshit insane, so they save it 'til you're neck deep in the Kool-Aid. They used to warn people that learning the inner secrets too early could damage your brain or even kill you.

And it worked, too, for decades. They'd run massive attacks against any media or public figures that tried to disclose the facts, so it never got much circulation. It wasn't until the internet got big that they lost the ability to comprehensively censor their critics.
