I did this in a little school in Oregon. 1st through 12th grade. I really struggled in college, and with relationships afterward. I have a lot of resentment for the people that kept me there. However, I'm a self-starter like crazy. I dropped out of college because I saw it as a huge waste of energy and time, and I could learn the things I wanted to learn much more efficiently on my own. And I did. I'm now a software engineer, self-taught.

Edit: As one very butt-hurt redditor pointed out, in some cases you cannot call yourself a software engineer without accreditation and a degree. However, in many shops they throw around the term loosely. I am now actually a dev manager (still involved in the planning, designing, and coding), and will keep the correct usage of the terminology in mind in the future.

My actual advice is to go to college if you can, especially if you want to learn more technical fields. In the areas that I am working, a degree is not mandatory, and demand is sometimes greater than availability (judging first hand on dealing with responses to job postings), so we hire people who are competent.

Holy crap. As a former Marine, I have to say, I'm really sorry for you having to put up with that. He claimed to be a force recon Marine, and familiar with the jungle, but didn't know he would burn, or to poop in a sanitary fashion. I was a reservist, and even I know that much.

How long did it take to recover from the muscle loss...or are you still recovering?

Wow, yeah you should push for an extended edition where they show more things like that, if you have the influence.
