What do you make of the arguments that the Obergefell v Hodges ruling could be used for national expansion of other dearly held rights, such as uniform national firearms rights?

My friend's grandfather also survived Auschwitz , but with a very different experience. He was a United States army POW and he was used as forced labor to help run the concentration camp. As the nazis ramped up their efforts towards the end, he escaped from Auschwitz with other American service members and made it to freedom. do you have any recollection of Americans or another nation's soldiers being used in the camps? what were your thoughts on them at the time?
