I'm (reluctantly) sold on the idea that we're unlikely to colonize Mars within my lifetime. There are too many scientific and technical challenges and not enough money spent on solving them.
Given the meteoric growth of the private space industry, do you foresee the industry evolving to the point where it makes economic sense for them to solve those challenges, such as closed biospheres or the long-term effects of low gravity?

Almost got blown up with a land mine on Iwo Jima.
I'm a bit confused. The post says you're 83 years old. So you would have been born around 1937 or so, which would have made you about eight years old during the Battle of Iwo Jima. What am I missing here?

What about jobs that require 24/7, such as security at some sites? A four-day week means more people have to be hired to fill the gaps. Won't that depress pay?
(PS: I generally love and support the idea)
