No, I am not OP but I do have Selective Mutism. My personal experiences is I usually shut down in Public spaces and can't speak, even I tried/wanted to. It is kind of like a trap. Someone is holding you hostage and you can't really speak or scream out for help because something is kind of like blocking that you know.
