Before Readup, did you use an adblocker?

I understand that there are types of ads and sponsored content that you can't block your way out of, but the type of ads you portray here (super sexy, super colorful, super hard to ignore!!) are ones i straight up haven't seen in the last 5 years.

I share the wish to provide a revenue stream to creators that is not based around ads. I can sort of see the thought behind the idea that a community that values reading enough to be willing to pay for the ability to get access to this community and the articles could end up with a higher quality of discourse. But at the same time, the promise of a good community has never compelled me to buy into a subscription service. And as a counterpoint, the sheer size of an open community makes it far more likely that people with actual knowledge on the subject pop up to share their wisdom and elevate the discussion. On top of that, all communities lose their fun, cozy & pleasant nature as they grow in size. Besides, it's an unmeasurable feature anyways. If you're paying for a community, you better tell your brain that it has been worth it.

The read-tracking tech sounds neat and might have potential. I can think of a bunch of usecases where it could offer a benefit. But the whole community aspect, i just don't see that ever popping off. People don't want to discuss articles with specific online folk, they want to do that with friends and family they can approach for free and spend quality time with.

On the adblocking front, you're competing with free options that already take care of the type of ads that you mention in here. Ads baked into videostreams is the main annoyance i encounter nowadays.

What's the state of Big Live Live Shows? Now that Whiskey Media is not a thing anymore, it must be harder to organize this thing and perhaps paint an unrealistic picture of the content on Giantbomb (Will & Norm won't do an icecream segment for Giantbomb for instance).

However, these events always felt like a big happening and were a blast to watch. Would such an event happen in the future?
