Is this software available for private use? Would you say that a physical therapist's presence is required to get full use out of it? Will there be more widespread trials at any point? (My brother suffered a stroke some years ago, he has an oculus rift, but we're a long way from Norway)

Ojoho1 karma

Around six years ago my brother suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke, resulting in extensive damage to his right (I think) hemisphere. Recovery has been very slow, but constant, and he still needs help with most things and doesn't have much control over his right side. We have of course been looking into any available clinical trials for stem cell treatments etc. but I have never heard of trials for cerebral electronic implants. Would you see any future potential for these implants in treating stroke patients, or even in improving their quality of life? If so, what form would you see that taking? I can imagine that these developments may be >50 years in the future, but can you give any insight on the time-frame before these cerebral implants begin more extensive human testing?
