To be fair Singapore is about as typical an Asian country as Russia is a European one.

Think about it. Imagine (if necessary) that you're a sweet, compassionate, empathetic human being. The needs of those around you matters to you, the happiness of others is something you strive towards. No one would suffer a bad day, injustice, or unnecessary hardship again if it were your choice.

Now imagine being that person and living in the world we do. Injustice a constant, cruelty a commonality, and indecency a standard and oft-defended way of life.

Here you are, sitting, having lunch with a kind, gentle young man who has had the misfortune of having a very rare, very taxing disability. They bear it, and no doubt do their best to be who they are and live their life despite it, and in your opinion, they've done a pretty kickass job of it.

...And some fucking asshole has the nerve to pick on this kid? Someone healthy and strong, not unlike yourself, has opted to use the blessings he's lucked out with to bring sadness and pain on someone else? No. No fucking way. You have lived far too long with basic human empathy in an inhumanly apathetic world to let this happen. Not to this kid. Not when you can put a stop to it.

Face it: Good people are a ticking fucking timebomb when it comes to hurting an innocent person.
