Honestly, a lot of kids who hated books picked up that series to read. I'd rather have teens read Twilight and learn to enjoy reading than not.

They are an easy, fun read for non-readers. I think everyone could support that.

How about the part where a dad gave his daughters over to be raped by the townspeople, just so his guests didn't get raped? No Dad of the Year mug for him.

Can you cite some please?

Under the rules of hospitality at that time, naming a person a guest/yourself a host involved specific and extensive rules of protection and treatment.

But total shit that didn't apply to one's family as well. I'm not sure if that was the norm, or if he was just a (righteous) dick. Or if it was seen as a good thing because his guests were angels.

But if they were angels, one would think they had the power to smite the wanna be rapists without having daughters sacrificed. It could be one of the Abraham/Isaac tests to see how far Lot was willing to go to honor the Lord.

FYI- I don't agree with any of this morally, just explaining possible reasons it might have been seen as a good thing at the time.

I was legally blind before I had LASIK 15 years ago. I had it done 3 times to get to 20/20. I have dry eye, which I have treated with punctal plugs (leave-in plugs for tear ducts) and eye drops. I do have starring around lights, especially at night, but it is not a big deal.

I don't like 3D movies anymore, but not sure if that is connected to LASIK or not.

I paid $3500 (cash up front discount). Along with my breast reduction & tummy tuck, it is the best money I have ever spent. Huge changes in how safe I felt just existing in the world since I didn't worry about losing a contact lense it my glasses falling off / leaving me in a situation where I couldn't see.

It does hurt a bit. The worst part is smelling your flesh cook - but it was also kind of fascinating. I am glad they gave me Valium beforehand because there is a very surreal "Fire in the Sky" quality to the machine & procedure.

Do it. Get it. You won't regret it. It is miraculous we live in an age of advanced science.
