"The study analyzed data from 749 people ages 65 and older who were asked, every couple of years, how many cans of soda they drank a day, and how many of those sodas were diet or regular."
Wow, that sounds like a highly reliable, 100% scientifically legitimate study.

I switched from regular soda to diet soda in the spring/summer of 2010, and lost 52 pounds in 5 months. When I would get a craving for something sweet, Fat Me would drink a Mountain Dew and have a Fastbreak bar. Healthy Me had a Diet Dew instead. Diet soda is great as a substitute for unhealthy junk food, NOT something you drink in addition to those foods. And as is the case with anything, moderation is key.

But didn't you hear, diet soda is terrible for you and even when used in moderation, will give you Type 3 Superbeetus that will make your feet fall off your body, become sentient, and kick your own ass. I heard all this from a super health conscious dude who drinks 15 beers over the course of a weekend.

They aren't journalists, they are entertainers. Calling them journalists would be like calling the Mythbusters (who shill for Comcast) "journalists".
