Trademark lawyers, actually. For real though the guy in that article said he hadn't consulted lawyers anyway (rather, a comment claiming to be him said that), which makes it all the more ridiculous that he's threatening suit on a pretty technical trademark issue (which is baseless for largely the reaosn you stated, IMO).

I was going to say that the parent was probably talking about the journey to finding a publisher for the book, but it's not entirely clear that OP's book is not self published. Clearly there are paper copies, but the website doesn't say anything about a publisher and a google search doesn't turn up any results from publisher websites, so maybe OP is just self published?

Edit: Further down OP does confirm that this is self published.

To be fair, it was based on a shitty chain email from a decade ago. I'm not sure how anyone expected more out of it, heh.

There are always a handful of people that are like "I think it makes players too lazy and we shouldn't have it," but that's just an argument against vacuum generally.

They deliberately phrased it to be misleading. What they're upset about is that undocumented immigrants can be California residents, and California residents get priority over non-residents. So that means that functionally an undocumented immigrant can get preference over a U.S. citizen that is not a California resident, despite the fact that it has nothing to do with immigration status.
