When I cleaned a room that a tuberculosis patient had teeth pulled in. Blood everywhere. No one bothered to tell me she had TB, so that was exciting up until the point my TB test came back negative.

I'm currently doing my undergrad in Chemistry in the hopes to go to dental and medical school to be a Maxillofacial surgeon. A job at a dental office during undergrad is worth more than gold on a resume. Not a pretty job but it's a means to an end.

I too live in the Midwest, and I agree with that trend. All the dental practices I've worked at or shadowed at seem to have this trend. I think it's because it is a very active job with lots of walking around and movement, so that attracts fit people.

Great questions. 1. We personally use MaxiCide for our cold sterilization. It is a pain definitely. It's mostly delicate things such as the rubber bands used in braces (we sterilize them the second they arrive by mail) and small plastic things that wouldn't do so well in a 250-300 degree autoclave. 2.We actually do not have any terms for trouble patients. Usually the assistants head back to my lab and complain to me about them. 3. " I can see everything. I understand now how Bush got elected"
