I respect the German common soldier's effort to defend his home ( I consider the Nazis, however, to be plainly evil). Were the common soldiers and those in their support structure ( nurses, doctors, etc) vilified by the population as were American soldiers post Vietnam war?

How does a property owner go about reclaiming their land once all this subsides?
