The mere use of rebar in concrete structures does not ensure whatsoever that it is earthquake-proof. It has to do with the loads the structure was designed for.

I think you mean seismic codes, not reinforced concrete codes. The latter are already followed in the modern world.

I agree with you that it's not necessary to go into detail for this thread, but I just wanted to point it out. It's good that you mentioned the rebar though. I'm glad that you were okay after going through that ordeal! And it's great that you were able to help so many people.
