I don’t know what this guy is or isn’t, but it used to be standard procedure to start the AMA, wait for the up and downvotes to kind of prioritize and filter the worthy questions, and then start answering from the top. I’ve certainly seen it done where they just start answering right away too, but if I were going to do one for whatever reason I’d probably give it an hour or two as well since I’d seen it done before and just kinda thought that was a best practices kind of thing.
Reddit used to have a staff member dedicated to organizing AMAs, but they fired her because I guess they thought it would be more interesting for people like you and me to question the validity of AMAs? I don’t know maybe you’re right, but I’m going to check back in an hour or so and see if he’s answered anything else.

Is he generally on board with Franco’s version of him and the movie or did that become awkward at any point?

You know you might be able to take on an investor and do a YouTube/podcast of the process. It could combine aspects of “This Old House” with research details a-la CGP Grey, and it would have some elements of “American Pickers” since I’m sure there will be unique challenges sourcing replacement parts for things like blast doors and stuff. If properly produced it might be good.

Hey man, thanks for doing this. So it looks like your early story kind of resembles mine. I got out of the Marines in '06, but instead of going straight to school I went to work for an orthopaedic surgeon for ten years, and now finally I'm one semester away from graduating in mechanical engineering. My question is since you mentioned being in computer engineering, how did you handle the hike professionally? I'd love to do either the AT or the PCT but life just always kind of figures out how to assert itself over those kind of dreams. Were you at an age where your coworkers or company could recognize the need for an extended leave or what? I'm just kind of curious about how you made that aspect of it work.
