What non-major sport had some of the most die-hard fans/players? Are Squash players as dedicated as the guys at my gym seem to make it?

I had a less-severe similar experience where I was alone in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota for about a week. For me, it was a constant worry throughout the whole week of getting lost, not catching any fish, etc. However, at the end, I looked back on it and could say "Wow, I'm really glad I did that." (despite all of the worrying throughout.) I already have another scheduled week-long expedition there for summer (bringing a friend to do it with me this time, however.)

If you had the option to, would you want to go do it again, especially knowing now what to expect?

I imagine he thought "what are the chances I get hit AGAIN" and then said fuck it after accident number 2.

How quickly do you feel you can "adopt" yourself into the family? I know you said it is a big change at the start so I could see where it would take awhile, but is there some specific thing that happens that makes you think "Okay, I feel like I belong here."

False. The experts that come in during Pawn Stars are in fact seeing the item they are an expert on for the very first time. Sure they might have been verbally told what item it is, but they haven't already looked at the item. One lady who was an expert on books did an AMA about this.
