Feels like it should be news. Like of course guardianship laws exist but the extent to how much they’re enforced and the steps taken by the Saudi government to “bring them to the 21st century” are pretty fucking scary.

Good for your friend that has progressive parents and is allowed to travel, but at that rate is she just saying fuck everyone else that doesn’t have such understanding and westernized parents? The point is that these laws are fucking barbaric and infringing on basic human rights and the app proves that Saudi has no intention of getting rid of the laws. The news story really isn’t about the app it’s about the laws.

Also don’t you think it’s possible there could be a flip side? Like for every girl like this who’s life is made easier is it not possible that the lives of some women are made worse?
