Salam! I live in Mashhad

Oh and there is a divide. Almost everyone who learns English wants to live in America one day, and that requires a mindset about the US government that is slightly more... positive than the rest of the population, to say the least.

This really isn't a good thing, it's almost become a sort of disease where they think everything Iranian is shit and only western products and cultural practices are superior, and quite frankly it gets very annoying.

Iranian here. Hezbollah may be the most hated group before the eyes of most Iranians.

This is wrong, I don't know about expats, but in Iran, HA enjoys widespread support. I say this as someone who lives in Mashhad. That wasn't one of the 09 protests either, it was to have the ballots re-counted because people suspected fraud. Were you even here during the protests?

also to /u/jobcv314. Israel invaded Lebanon in 1980, just like with the war in Iraq, why were you surprised when people attacked you? As an Iranian I'm genuinley curious, like, were people surprised?

Beyond their actions during the 80's war against Israel when ever did they target American's or Europeans?

with all due respect that seems to be more of a western thing than religious in general. I can't speak for others but in Iran where the religious authority has a lot of power evolution is still standard curriculum in school and everyone seems to accept it here.

centuries of religious oppression

Actually Zoroastrains have full freedom of religion today.
