You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

If you said that to me, I'd understand you just fine. Seeing it written feels strange. Not wrong, but strange.

Hey! l was lucky enough to get to watch you tearing it up at the Olympic Trials, and it was an awesome experience. I started skating last year and I must say it was truly inspiring to watch you and all those other amazing athletes compete.

Three questions:

1. How is it different skating against your own teammates vs. skaters from other countries you only meet at competitions?

2. What do you think really helps you push yourself to get to this level?

3. I'm sure you get asked this a lot, but what is the best thing I can do both on or off the ice to improve? Right now I unfortunately only get to attend on ice practice once or twice a week due to school, but I intend to continue skating when I move on to college.

Ps.- I'm incredible jealous of the ice in Utah. It looked amazing! I wish we had access to a great facility like that here in Florida.

Thank you for the reply. I have a friend who is having health problems and want to help them but I don't know how to do that best. I worry that I don't do a good job. Don't worry about my friend. They will be ok, it just sucks for them right now. I wish the best for you :)

What things have people close to you done that you thought were most pleasant/helpful for you? What things were not as helpful as people intended?
