I find it hard to believe that melting my old hard drives/components with thermite will not destroy the data..... I'm planning to upgrade my hard drives soon (finally getting an SSD and a larger secondary, yay), how about I send you my old ones and we see how much data you can get off of them?

As a former Power station IT guy I must ask something - How "Current" is your computer hardware in the control systems area? The stuff that I used to have to deal with was so ancient. I was giving the CS guys stuff that I was replacing because it was too old and it was still 4-5 years newer than the gear that was being used....

Not sure about you yanks but gun theft over here an Australia is reported pretty consistently, mainly because if you don't and your gun is found/used somewhere then you're in big trouble.

That said, in all the years I lived outside the cities I only heard of one case of gun theft in the communities I lived in. In that case the thieves knew the gun owner was out of the country for a month and demolished half of his house getting the safe out. He reported the theft quickly and as far as I know hasn't heard about them since.

What do you think of the Feral Camel issue?

Sounds nice, most of the equipment I helped with appeared to be PLC driven but I was just the IT guy - I gave them hardware I'd replaced, helped them make certain things work on said hardware and then left them ASAP be hoping that they wouldn't accidentally trigger the GFS in the room like the time a couple of months before....
